  • Identify individual interests, values, strengths, and challenges through engaging personality profile tests, academic and career aptitude tests, and guided self-reflection exercises.

  • Develop a strategy for exploring and cultivating interests through extracurricular activities including sports, arts, clubs, volunteer opportunities, internships, and enrichment programs.

In order to tell your story well, you must develop the tools needed to share your unique perspective with confidence and clarity. Our program helps students:

  • Reflect deeply on their experiences to uncover personal insights that shape their powerful, authentic narratives.

  • Find their voice and build the communications skills needed to express their ideas confidently and effectively in writing and speech.

Academic Planning & Course Selection

Academic Planning & Course Selection

Academic Planning & Course Selection

The courses that you take in high school are a significant part of your academic profile and your eventual college applications. Our program helps students:

  • Understand their high school course requirements and course progression and evaluate their options in light of their own individual strengths, challenges, and aspirations.

  • Select challenging courses in their core subjects, as well  choose impactful electives that align with their personal interests, goals, and emerging narrative.

Success Skills

Standardized Testing

Academic Planning & Course Selection

Succeeding in the college application process begins with succeeding in high school. So, how exactly do you do that? Hint: subject matter knowledge is not enough. Our program helps students:

  • Recognize the learning skills including time management, organization, active reading, and self-advocacy, that transcend individual classes and often impact grades as much as anything else.

  • Develop strategies and techniques to improve those skills and apply them in their own studies.

Summer Strategies

Standardized Testing

Standardized Testing

The best college applications are seamless. In those applications, interests, goals, academic efforts, and extracurricular activities align to produce a clear image of the student. The summer presents a unique opportunity to sharpen that image. Our program helps students:

  • Develop a Summer Strategy designed to maximize their time away from school by helping them identify  activities that reflect who they are as well as who they want to become.

  • Evaluate work options and enrichment opportunities including internships and  pre-college programs as well as develop competitive applications for such programs.

Standardized Testing

Standardized Testing

Standardized Testing

As colleges navigate the post-pandemic, test-optional era, standardized tests have begun to make a comeback. In fact, they are increasingly part of the college application process in one way or another for many kids once again.  Our program helps students:

  • Understand the role that standardized tests like the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP exams play in building their academic profile and their eventual college applications.

  • Reduce anxiety over standardized tests by developing a plan to improve areas of weakness and strategies to improve test-taking skills.

College List Development

College Essay Development

College Essay Development

The college list is at the center of the college application process. Our program helps students:

  • Explore and evaluate college options in a thoughtful way that is designed to support their efforts to identify their best fit schools on a variety of levels including academic, social, and economic.

  • Understand what constitutes a reach, target, and safety school for them based on their individual academic profiles.

  • Build a balanced college list with a mix of reach, target & safety schools on it in order to maximize student options at the end of the process.

College Essay Development

There are few things more important to the college application process or harder for students to develop than effective college essays. Our program helps students:

  • Brainstorm ideas for the essays they encounter from the Personal Statement to school-specific supplemental essay questions.

  • Learn effective ways to approach their college essays and the proven writing techniques associated with them.

  • Find their voice and produce authentic, compelling essays by providing them with constructive, actionable feedback on their essay drafts and reviewing their final essays.

Application Strategies

College Essay Development

Application Strategies

Since the college application process is competitive and full of potential opportunities and pitfalls, a good application strategy goes a long way. Our program helps students:

  • Identify their story and create a seamless narrative across all aspects of their application from their coursework to their activities to their essays.

  • Understand the potential benefits and drawbacks of ED, EA, and RD applications and evaluate the best options for each type of application.

  • Devise a strategy for standardized test reporting in light of the evolving standardized test policies of colleges.

College Interview Prep

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Application Strategies

If you get the chance to interview at a college you're applying to, you should jump on it! That's because you can transform yourself from a number into a person over the course of an interview. And, generally speaking, people are harder to reject than numbers. Our program helps students:

  • Understand the nuances of alumni interviews, student interviews, and admissions representative interviews as well the challenges and opportunities presented by in-person and Zoom interviews.

  • Craft their Personal Pitch, a powerful, positive summary of who they really are that they can deliver to an interviewer with confidence and poise.

  • Prepare for interviews and overcome anxiety by learning proven interview techniques and strategies, engaging in mock interviews, and reviewing constructive, actionable feedback on their performance.

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Scholarships & Financial Aid

College isn't cheap and paying for it isn't easy for most people. Merit scholarships and financial aid can make a big difference in figuring out how to make the numbers work. Our program helps students:

  • Identify potential school-based and external scholarships, and complete scholarship applications.

  • Develop a basic understanding of the financial aid process and identify resources for assistance with completing financial aid applications including both FAFSA and the CSS Profile.

  • Understand what Demonstrated Financial Need and Expected Family Contribution mean, the difference between "need blind" and "need aware" colleges, and the role that financial aid can play in all stages of the admissions process.

Application Outcomes

Scholarships & Financial Aid

Scholarships & Financial Aid

The college application process can be grueling, but it doesn't end when you submit your applications. Rather, it's not over until you get your application results. And even then it isn't really over until you make your final decision. Our program helps students:

  • Understand and evaluate all offers of acceptance and financial aid awards.

  • Understand what it means to be deferred as well as what it means to be placed on the waitlist.

  • Develop Letters of Continued Interest and devise a communications strategy for specific colleges in situations where you have been deferred or waitlisted.

We wanted to let you that [our daughter] got into BU! She is thrilled to be going to her first choice school! Thank you for all of your help and for easing the application process for us. Your calm, wisdom, caring, and guidance made a stressful time positive and constructive.
